At River’s Edge, we are truly a family campground: You may come as a stranger, but you will leave as family!
In our last blog post, I talked about all of the types of fish that you can catch when you’re visiting us at River’s Edge. Now, let’s talk about how you can cook those fish once you’ve caught them. Speckled Trout, Red Drum, and Flounder are the 3 most commonly caught fish in our area. So, let’s focus on those here:
Flounder is a versatile fish that can be prepared in a number of ways: you can fry it, saute it, grill it, bake it, and even put it in your air fryer! If you’re looking for a healthier option, flounder is delicious baked with fresh lemon juice, parsley, and a touch of butter. The recipe we’ve included here, also includes a garlic aioli sauce for an extra punch of flavor.
Red Drum is another versatile fish. It has a light natural flavor, so you can use a number of spices and other ingredients to add more flavor. For an extra punch of flavor, you should try this blackened Red Drum recipe which turns up the heat for those lovers of all things spicy.
Speckled Trout, despite its name, isn’t actually a type of trout; it’s actually more similar to Redfish (or Red Drum). For this tasty fish, I’ve included a recipe for Fried Speckled Trout with a Black-Eyed Pea Salad. This recipe comes from a renowned chef and author, so you know it’s going to be good!
Part of the fun of fishing is eating them afterwards! We hope that you’re able to enjoy all of the delicious fish that you catch while you’re visiting us at River’s Edge Family Campground in Eastern NC.
